We focus on improving documents in a number of areas:
- Standardisation of terms
When we edit in Word we use the change tracking feature, which allows you to see everything we have done and accept or reject our changes individually, by section or page, or for the whole document.
Our most popular service, this includes two edits by a first editor, after which the proposal goes to a senior editor for a final check before release to the client.
This service gives an opportunity for more client-editor communication. After Standard Editing, the client has the opportunity to go through the edited proposal, attending to any comments that the editor may have inserted and adding their own to ensure their meaning has been clearly understood. Finally, a senior editor works through the document a final time before it is returned to the client. This is offered at a 30% premium to the Standard Editing charge.
Available for a flat fee, for those who would like to improve their writing. This report outlines the key grammatical and stylistic areas of your writing that would benefit from improvement in future.
Unlike some editing houses, we don't charge an averaged dollar per word figure, because doing so would mean that clients with a higher than average writing standard would subsidise those with a lower standard.
If you'd first like to get a rough idea of how much the editing will cost, please enter your document's word count into our Approximate Cost Calculator. There you'll also find more details on discounts and payment methods.
We value the trust that our clients place in us and ensure the quality of our editing service in a number of ways.
- Selective Recruitment
We select only a very small percentage of applicants to work with us, most holding postgraduate qualifications from leading research universities. All applicants must attempt our online assessment, with our Chief Editor, Dr Mike Poole, making the final call on who makes the grade.
- Ongoing Training and Development
Dr Poole is ultimately responsible for maintaining quality, and conducts feedback sessions with all new editors until he is happy with the level of their editing work. From then on our editors benefit from periodical feedback sessions and from joining team webinars.
- A Two-Stage Editing Process
All documents are edited at least twice by a first editor. Following that they go on to a senior editor who ensures publication quality before they are released to the client.
If you don't alter a proposal that we've edited and it's unsuccessful on purely English language grounds, we will offer to re-edit it free of charge before you next submit it. In support of your claim we will need the assessment report and a copy of the proposal as you originally submitted it. For the proposal to be re-edited free of charge the assessors must have indicated problems with English usage alone, and not related to content, style or inappropriate or incorrect terminology.
We treat confidentiality very seriously and in our long history have never disclosed any client information. We can supply a confidentiality agreement if requested and are happy to sign your own documentation to provide peace of mind.
